Of the roughly 1 million new homes built in the average year, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) predicts that about 150,000 of them will have elevated levels of radon. EPA recently announced the final version of model construction standards for radon resistant new construction. Builders may be familiar with some techniques on the list, since many are also used to increase energy efficiency and control moisture.
