Greenblock Insulating Concrete Form

One of the newer insulated concrete form products is called Greenblock. The "block" is two sheets of expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam connected with a metal spacer. The standard block is 1m long by 250mm thick by 250mm deep (3.3 ft. x 10 in. x 10 in.). The wide variety of special pieces make this system stand out from some others. Greenblocks have ready-made 90 degree corners, 45 degree corners and lintels blocks, so you don't have to modify standard blocks for these common needs.

The outside EPS sheet is 2.5 inches thick, while the inside is 2 inches thick. Using EPS with a density of 1.5 pcf gives it an insulating value just under R-19. The metal spacer is held back from the surface of the foam to reduce thermal bridging.
