Another heating equipment manufacturer has jumped into the HRV market. Kooltronic, Inc. has been making air conditioners, heat exchangers, fans and blowers for electronic and industrial cabinets for 36 years. Now their TherMax Division is making a full line of HRVs, including window-mounted units and ducted units from 125 to 1600 cfm. The larger units are targeted for commercial applications. The ducted units offer either polyethylene or aluminum crossflow exchange cores. Defrost protection is provided by a supply shut-off control. The manufacturer claims 75 percent apparent effectiveness. The core carries a lifetime warranty, while the unit as a whole carries a 5-year warranty on parts and workmanship.
