R-Control Diamond Snap Forms

R-Control makes expanded polystyrene (EPS) boards through allied factories around the country. Joining their R-Control foam core panels is a new insulating concrete form system. Diamond Snap-Forms consist of plastic ties that hold EPS panels. Standard ties make 4-, 6-, 8- and 10-inch concrete walls.

The ties hold two-inch-thick, 1- x 8-foot Perform Guard EPS panels. In the factory, the panels are notched every 12 inches to accept the ties. Some form systems require installers to fashion corners in the field. Diamond Snap-forms provide standard "factory corners" in either 90 or 45 degrees.

The panels are made of Type IX EPS (2.0 lb/cu. ft. density). Under standard test conditions (75° F) the panels alone have an insulating value of R-18. AFM adds a borate derivative to resist insect attack. EPS uses no chlorine-containing foaming agents, such as CFCs or HCFCs, that harm the ozone layer.
