ESB: Robertshaw Carbon Monoxide Detector

HVAC controls company Robertshaw now offers a carbon monoxide (CO) detector. The 7605 line uses a semiconductor sensor that samples the air every three minutes. Robertshaw says two of the detector's features prevent false alarms. First, a purge cycle burns contaminants off the sensor between samples. Second, a confirmation circuit double checks for the presence of CO before sounding the alarm.

The 85-decibel alarm sounds when 100 parts per millions (ppm) of CO has been present for 10 minutes. A red LED provides a visual alarm as well. A separate yellow LED indicates a detector malfunction.

Hard-wired power supplies can be 115VAC, 24VAC and 12VDC. Up to eight detectors can be linked together. The detector meets UL Standard 2034 for homes and recreational vehicles.
